How I came to this profession was a pure coincidence or perhaps fate. One Saturday morning, my father called me to tell me that he had read a great job description in the newspaper. It has to be said that my father had never read the newspaper at the morning table before, but by chance there was this ad from an orthopedic technology company in southern Germany that was urgently looking for a technician for silicone technology. It was quickly clear that I had to write an application. After less than a week, I had the opportunity for a trial day to prove that I was suitable for this job. On the same day, this company gave me an employment contract and fate took its course.

My name is Alex Stamos and I was born in 1974 in the beautiful city of Tübingen. I have been a prosthesis designer for more than 22 years now and it all started at the Brillinger company in Tübingen. I owe a lot to my mentor Jochen Steil and without him I would not be where I am today. With him I learned the basic techniques of silicone technology and developed them further over the years. After working for this company for almost 3 years, I was drawn to Switzerland, or rather I was offered a job at the Balgrist University Hospital in Zurich to build up the silicone technology department there as head of department.
